“Christmas for a Family in Need”
Fellow members of the San Antonio Chapter of AORN, In the past our chapter has adopted a family through the Angel Tree Project. This year the officers and board members, along with the membership present at the last meeting, have decided to assist a person who works in the perioperative setting who has a need due to a recent unfortunate experience in their lives.
This person/family does not necessarily have to be a perioperative nurse, but someone who works in the perioperative environment. After some discussion the board and membership chose to support Roxanne Toney, a unit secretary at University Hospital, whose house flooded and was and still is unlivable. Roxanne was living out of her car until family members took her in. The following is a list of Roxanne’s children—just to let you know she is about six weeks pregnant.
• Devin Toney (male) 14 years old
Clothes size= Small Shirts (adult size), Pants = size 20, He likes video games
• Cynncere Martinez (female) 5 years old
Clothes= size 6 (pants or shirts), Barbie dolls
• Danyle Martinez (female) 2 years old
Clothes size= 5T (pants or shirts), Barbie dolls
• Deshaun Lacy (female) 6months old
Clothes size 24 months, Anything that makes noise
The officers and board member are asking if money could be donated to this effort so Kelly Rodriguez, along with other board members can go shopping to buy gifts for this family. I hope that the entire membership will look into their hearts and donate funds to help this family in their time of need. Roxanne is deeply appreciative of members of the San Antonio Chapter of AORN for sponsoring her family.
If you cannot attend the next meeting, please send you donations to: Mr. AORN 12215 Stable Pond Dr. SATX 78249, anything you can donate will be appreciated!
On another note, the weekend after Thanksgiving, Christallia Starks has signed up our chapter to wrap gifts for Elf Louise. Check out our new chapter website www.aornchapter4409.org for more information and specific dates.
